Niche soul label IZIPHO SOUL is all set for a landmark release – it’s 40th 45! And the little, celebratory 7″disc features two classy sides from veteran soul man FREDERICK. Mr Millard (for that is his surname) has been on the scene since the 80s … you may remember the Cleveland-born singer’s quiet storm classic ‘Gentle (Calling Your Name)’.
For this new Izipho 45 Frederick offers ‘Real Love’ (NO, not that one!). This is a lazy blend of modern soul with a smooth jazz undertow… listen up to the Jarreau style scatting. Little wonder that Stateside, Frederick is dubbed “The Renaissance Man of Soul and Jazz Music”.
The B side of the single, by the way, is a Fredrick oldie – ‘I Can’t Help But Love You’… another slab of elegant modern soul.
The 45 has just been made available, but the release is limited to just 250 copies and you can learn more @ www.iziphosoul.com
