Minneapolis trio SKYDOLL (MacGregor Teigen, Brandon Dalida and Paul Ryan) get into the Christmas party spirit (remember Christmas parties?) with an energized new dance tune…. ‘It’s Gonna Be Alright’.
It’s big soulful groove that carries a warm message of hope in a world of despair. (The team tell us that song was in fact inspired by the civil unrest in their hometown of Minneapolis this past summer).
The big, soulful vocal comes courtesy of Jearlyn Steele (whose CV includes work with Prince and Mavis Staples), and it really is a powerful performance which coupled with the tight groove and Nu-Disco flavours should keep the modern soul brigade happy.
The tune also come in two house-ified mixes. First up there’s a tweak from Chuck Love who crafts a 90s style house romp with rocking piano and soulful Hammond while the UK’s own Richard Earnshaw adds a concentrated funky gloss to proceedings via a loping bass line which just underlines what a big performance Ms Steele puts in.
‘It’s Gonna Be Alright’ is out now on Skydoll Records.
