While Howard Hewett and Jeffrey Daniel choose to tread the oldies circuit with their version of Shalamar (see https://www.soulandjazzandfunk.com/news/shalamar-tour-2/ ), the other core member, JODY WATLEY continues to pursue her own successful career and to that end she’s released a new single to coincide with her birthday (30th January). She won’t mind us revealing that she’s a sprightly 65 and on the evidence of this new ‘Everlasting’, she can clearly give younger artists a real run for their money!
‘Everlasting’ is a crisp, gentle, contemporary soul beater – infectious. The song delivers an important message. ‘Everlasting’ was penned and produced by Jody and her longtime collaborator Rodney Lee – a keyboardist and producer while additional production and remix work comes from Italian producer and DJ Alex Di Ciò who has remixed several of Jody’s’ songs in the past.
