German label GOLDEN RULES is preparing the release of a third compilation in their ‘Originals’ series. However, there can’t be many new songs left on it as the label has already released nine singles from it – and they’ve just released the tenth! It’s a raw, nasty, wailing, pounding ‘The Scoop’ from Seattle deep funk outfit The Oscillators.
The band is led by drummer Olli Klomp and we’re told that their sound has been dubbed “dirty funk” – built from heavy drums, deep pounding bass, crying guitars, drifting horns, raw melodies and minimal, sneaky lyrics. It won’t be everyone’s cup of soul tea – but if “dirty funk’s” you’re thing you many want to check it out!
