Last month busy, prolific Aussie all round soul muso LANCE FERGUSON announced he was preparing a second volume of his ambitious RARE GROOVE SPECTRUM project… whose aim was/is to dig out some ultra-rare and classic soul, jazz and funk tunes and re-record them with a 21st century Aussie twist.
Ferguson made the announcement with the release of his new version Dave Lee’s Sunburst Band’s ‘Far Beyond’. He now follows that with his take on a rare Latin groove – Kitty Winter & Gipsy Nova’sjazz-dance classic “New Morning”. Genre wise, I-tunes classes it as “Brazil groove / Tropicalia”… can’t argue with that, yep, it’s a big, big bossa! Out now via Freestyle Records
