INTRODUCING BELLA BROWN…

Latest release from boutique vinyl label, LRK features a name new to us  – BELLA BROWN AND THE JEALOUS LOVERS. Our soul sleuths tell us that Bella (real name Carol Hatchett) and her big  band hail from Los Angeles and that she’s released a couple of EPs that made considerable  waves on the US funk scene. The music on the mini albums included covers of things like ‘I Can’t Get Next To You’ and ‘Groove Me’ and some tough originals and it’s a couple of those  that make up the two sides of the new LRK 45.

The A side is an uncompromising ‘Get Mine’ which featured on Bella’s 2018 EP. The tune is busy and bristling with big brass parts, funky percussion and some tasty Booker T style Hammond. The 45’s  B side is a more sombre, ‘I’m Gone’  – one of the focus cuts on Bella’s latest ‘Rocket’ EP. Sonically, it might remind you of dear old Curtis  circa ‘Superfly’ while the vocals betray Ms Brown’s love and respect for Sharon Jones.

These are two tough tunes and though we don’t have a release date yet, you can learn more @ https://lrkrecords.bandcamp.com/
