EL JEROME BATTLE is a new name to us but on the strength of his debut solo single – a sweet, soulful ballad, ‘Perfect Love’, we’d love to hear more!
We’ve learned that El Jerome hails from Jacksonville, Florida and that his background is in Gospel (no surprise there!) He began singing in the church aged just 5 and started to take solo leads five years later. In his teens he fronted the Jacksonville Harmonaires before joining the Ambassador Chorale at Florida Memorial University.
Right now Mr B is currently a member of the Jacksonville Symphony Orchestra Chorus, Philippian Community Church Choir, and the leader of the Philippian Community Church Men’s Praise Team. He is also currently in the studio completing his first EP from which the lovely ‘Perfect Love’ has been lifted as a single.
The song is a sweet, smooth ballad that, yes, has a gospel message – God’s love is perfect; but like many great gospel songs (try the music of Billy and Sara Gaines), the message transfers “perfectly” to a secular setting. It’s quite lovely and Mr Battle’s sultry baritone vocals offer flavours of Will Downing and dear old Luther.
