Last July, INCOGNITO played a celebratory gig at London’s Shepherds Bush Empire. The reason for the bash was to applaud the band’s amazing 35 years in the business. Those who were there – friends, family and fans – will attest to a wild, soul-filled night.
If you weren’t there (even if you were!) you can relive all the action via an upcoming live CD set and an amazing DVD.
For the very special performance Bluey marshalled all his usual musical confreres and to give the set real muscle the vocals were handled by Mario Biondi, Carleen Anderson, Mo Brandis and Imaani (sadly, no Maysa Leak).
The lengthy set featured the band’s biggest hits and plenty of choice cuts from their 17 studio long players. Amongst the featured tunes are their biggie, ‘Always There’; their first single ‘Parisienne Girl’ and the still spine-tingling ‘Still A Friend Of Mine’. There are also plenty of great covers – notably ‘Silver Shadow’, ‘Tin Man’, ‘As’ and ‘Lowdown’ (with Mario Biondi up front). By the way, generous Bluey also allowed Mario to offer his own ‘This Is What You Are’. The set finished with a rousing version of the Isleys’ ‘Harvest For The World’…. and like all Incognito music it fuels the feet but also offers plenty of food for thought.
Bluey says of the evening; “For those of you who joined us for this celebration, this will hopefully bring back fond memories and make a great souvenir of the night! And for those who could not attend the show, here’s what you missed….. enjoy!”
