Veteran and garlanded producer and man about music, TEDDY DOUGLAS makes a very welcome return with a new 4 track EP – ‘Tribute To Q’.
Teddy Boy needs no lengthy interdiction here, save to say that he’s worked with almost everyone worth working with! I mean… Michael Jackson, Lenny Kravitz, Crystal Waters, Erykah Badu, Martha Wash, Ultra Nate and more! Then there was that little old Basement Boys thing. Was that really all that time ago? Yes, but Teddy continues to make music and amongst his recent projects was his 2021 homage to two of his musical heroes, Kenny Gamble and Leon Huff, with his highly acclaimed album of reworks and remixes titled, ‘Baltimore Philadelphia International’.
Now Mr D turns his talents towards another music icon – Qunicy Jones. Teddy’s Tribute To Q’ recrafts 4 Quincy Jones classics – ‘Burning Up’, ‘Bedtime Story’, ‘Ai No Corida’ and ‘Betcha Wouldn’t Hurt Me’.
The credits read “Teddy Douglas & Friends” and the pals include Irvin Madden (bass); Sharon Adams, Navasha Daya, Martin Wilson and Will Jones (vocals); Ollie Wright and Hozay Clowney (keys); Bennie Cowan (Trumpet); Davon McCoy and Victor Williams (Percussion). Teddy himslef handles the drums and percussion and between them they offer new perspectives on the familiar whilst preserving the integrity of those classics – respectful and loving! Foot tapping, body swaying, head nodding, hands-in-the-airing too, of course!
‘Tribute To Q’ will be released on Traxsource promo September 1st / Full release September 22nd 2023 on Basement Boys Records.
