LISA MCCLENDON is a US soul singer who (surprise, surprise) started singing in the Church! Born in Florida, her father was a preacher, and he made sure that young Lisa had a thorough grounding in the art of gospel.
The lure of the secular saw Lisa join vocal group 3N1 before striking out on her own with the solo album ‘My Diary, Your Life’. Other albums followed including the gospel-centric ‘Reality’.
Not that well known outside the connoisseurs’ circle, Lisa has just released a lovely new single, ‘Mood’ and from the title you can probably guess that it’s a late night jam perfect for those Quiet Strom moments. Lisa handles the song with a soulful intensity betraying her gospel background while there’s a smooth jazz undertow to proceedings via some sweet horn fills.
