SOUL DIRECTION is a new(ish) niche soul label that works “to unearth unreleased soul music from the vaults and bring them to you on vinyl, enabling you to enjoy previously unissued quality soul music from all the genres and eras”.
They kick off with a real treasure… ‘I Lost You’ from ANDREA HENRY. The previously unissued track comes from the estate of the great Don Davis and was penned by the equally garlanded Tony Hestor and it’s replete with those special 60s Detroit flavours. Anoraks will tell you that the song was also recorded by the Holidays for Groove City and they’ll add that Andrea also recorded (for Blue Rock) as Janeen Henry. But it’s what’s in the grooves that counts and this is really rather special and the B – side is equally tasty…Andrea’s ‘I Need You Like A Baby’ – an established Northern favourite.
