Legendary soul group THE IMPRESSIONS are set to play two very special shows in the UK in June.
The group – founded back in 1958 – holds a very special place in the hearts of every proper soul music lover and the shows are bound to sell out quickly. Led by CURTIS MAYFIELD, THE IMPRESSIONS enjoyed a wonderful run of hits with ABC/Paramount then continued the momentum whilst recording for MAYFIELD’S own label, Curtom. When CURTIS went solo he was replaced in the group by LEROY HUTSON who in turn was replaced by a duo – RALPH JOHNSON and REGGIE TORIAN. THE IMPRESSIONS unofficially disbanded in the mid 80s but original members SAM GOODEN and FRED CASH kept the brand alive and since then have toured and recorded sporadically.
For the UK shows CASH and GOODEN are working again with REGGIE TORIAN and, backed by “THE CURTOM ORCHESTRA”, they’ve promised to perform all the great IMPRESSIONS’ classics. The shows are at London’s Barbican on June 10th and Manchester’s Bridgewater Hall on June 11th… tickets are available from all the usual outlets.
