Sporting a new look, soulful Dublin chanteuse IMELDA MAY – who blends rhythm and blues, with rock, gospel and jazz flavours – releases her fifth album, ‘Life. Love. Flesh. Blood,’ on April 7th via Decca Records.
Recorded in Los Angeles with veteran US producer T. Bone Burnett at the helm (Elvis Costello, Elton John, Cassandra Wilson, Diana Krall), the new LP – described by May as her most “honest” album yet – contains guest cameos from guitar avatar JEFF BECK (on ‘Black Tears’) and ex-Squeeze pianist , JOOLS HOLLAND (on ‘When It’s My Time’). May’s rhythm section comprises noted guitarist Marc Ribot, bassist Zach Dawes, and drummer Jay Bellerose.
The singer/songwriter is due to accompany the album’s release with a full UK tour in May (see below).
