While we wait for the much anticipated second album from the UK’s HOUSE GOSPEL CHOIR, August’s LOVE IS THE MESSAGE’, the NATALIE MADDIX-led ensemble have just released the set’s second single – their electrifying version of Livin’ Joy’s 1994 epic ‘Dreamer’.
Livin’ Joy were an Italian house production team and for their ‘Dreamer’ they recruited New Jersey soul and gospel star JANICE ROBINSON to deliver the stirring vocal. And guess what? For this new version HGC have managed to coax Ms Robinson back to the studio to duplicate (and even better) her original vocal! She delivers with soul stirring passion supported by the choir’s full-on harmonies.
You may remember that the original was described as a “hedonistic head charge of feel-good techno”, now the HGC’s new expression takes the song right back to the store front churches of the old south paying full homage to Robinson’s gospel roots. The song is now set to a simple piano motif allowing the power of big collective voices and their uplifting gospel energy to shine through. Out now . Amen!
