‘I Saw You’ is an upcoming release from California songbird CASTELLA (Cathy Rebecca Crowell-Thompson). Ms C wrote this lovely, sophisticated soul tune with producer David P. Stevens and we’re told that the song was inspired by Castella’s favourite subject, “Love”. She tells us that ‘I Saw You’ is a tale of being down in life and finding friendship and love in a person with a pure heart and pure intentions… ah, so sweet and very romantic. The romance quotient on the track is enhanced by the saxophone fills of top 5 Billboard charting musician Marqueal Jordan.
Between them Castella and Marqueal craft a memorable, old school flavour that will recall favourites by people like Anita Baker, Oleta Adams, Rachelle Ferrell et al. We we’re going to say that this is classic smooth soul but there’s nothing smooth/bland about Castella’s soulful delivery which betrays her extensive gospel background.
