Latest release from UK soul label EXPANSION is an EP from STEVEN THAD (Stephen Leslie, Jr.). Our Steve’s background’s in gospel (there’s a surprise!). With his sisters he was part of the local church choir and when they were old enough they formed their own gospel group, Trilogy. In 2020, Steven and his two sisters peaked at #28 on Billboard’s Gospel Top-100 Chart with their hit single, ‘Jesus Loves Me.’
Now Steven is striking out on his own and like many Gospel greats before him, he’s dipping his toes into the secular music pond! And my word… he’s stepping out in style! His first album, ‘Love’, R&B’ won plenty of plaudits and one of that album’s focus cuts is the new EP’s title track. The tune is ‘Do You Remember?’ and it’s a smooth, contemporary groove that will appeal to both the soul crowd and to R&B contingent. Steven’s vocal is classically soulful – svelte and sweet – and betrays his gospel apprenticeship!
The EP also features a live version of the song alongside ‘Go Get It’, ‘I Cannot Lose’ and ‘Oh My God’.
