Soul man DON E is a busy boy right now. He has his own album out on the sales racks and the cleverly titled ‘I-Soulation’ is well worth checking. He’s also collaborating with a new soul boy on the London block – KASHFLOW. Of Jamaican parentage, Kashflow works out of Brixton and started his music career aged just 11 – trying his hand at drum ‘n’ bass. In his late teens he turned to soul and he’s spent something like five years honing his talents.
The hard work has now come to fruition as he releases his debut single – a lovely, dreamy ‘I Don’t Wanna Go’. The song and production have a flavour of Boys II Men – hardly surprising, as Mr K cites the group as a big influence on him alongside people like Brian McKnight, Musiq Soul Child and D’Angelo. Don E features on the cut which also come in an R&B mix – rougher and bumpier with a rap… both mixes out May 8th.
