HONEYED SOUL…

Over the last few months we’ve enjoyed a couple  of singles from hard-gigging French soul and funk band, THE SOUL SEEDERS. First there was the brisk Northern flavoured ‘Gentleman Jealous Type’ then the less frantic ‘A Brighter Shade’ with guest vocal input from US soul man, CARLTON JUMEL SMITH. We were told that both tracks were from an upcoming album – and said album, ‘Honey’ has just been released.

The set’s an 11 tracker and delivers  a wide sweep of soul flavours – albeit with a marked Gallic touch, try the oddly vibed ‘We Make The World Go Round’ to hear what we mean. ‘Someone Else’s Door’ is more “traditional” soul – a perfect vehicle for the soulful, sultry vocals of Lucie Haddad. She also shines on the stripped down ‘Little Angel’ and the insistent  title track. Those two well-chosen singles remain the album highlights though!
