Last month plenty of soul tastemakers were impressed by an almost out-of-nowhere single, ‘Cyclone’ from WOLFGANG VALBRUN. It was big and bold and we learned that Wolfgang is a singer-songwriter born and raised in New York. However his musical career took off in Europe and he now resides in Paris where he’s worked with various avant garde bands.
Out on his own, ‘Cyclone’ was his first solo single and he now follows that with a more dramatic ‘Keep Your Head Up’. The message in the music is that we need to stay strong despite what life and the establishment throws at us. Socially, it has less of a classic soul feel than ‘Cyclone’ but, it’s another big, bold offering with a peculiar insistency. Vocally, Mr V sounds just as powerful – out now! Via Jalapeno.
