HIGH VIBIN’

To most, genial Mancunian MAX BEESLEY is a rather fine actor but serious music fans know that prior to acting, young Max was an equally fine musician. Indeed he studied at Manchester’s’ prestigious Chetham’s Music School and London’s Guildhall Schol of Music and Drama where his instruments of choice were piano and  the whole percussion range (before that, by the way, he was also a choir boy at Manchester Cathedral).

After college Max worked with people like Incognito, Paul Weller, EWF, Omar, Lisa Stansfield – even Stevie Wonder! In the early 90s he fronted his own band – MAX BEESLEY’S HIGH VIBES who released a couple of collectable 12”s on Boogie Back Records. Then, though, acting and lucrative pay packets beckoned!

In 2020 max went back to music with a solo album, ‘Groove Spectrum’ and now he’s resurrecting his High Vibes collective. The “new” High Vibes number luminaries like Steve Gadd and Dean Parks and there’s an album on its way at the end of the year! In the meantime, Max and Vibes’ team have just released the set’s first single, ‘Zeus’. As the title suggests it’s an intriguing slice of cosmic funk with Max’s vibraphone taking centre  stage.  It’s out now via  Légère Recordings and we believe that ‘Zeus’ is the title track to the aforementioned new album!
