HAVING BIG FUN!

Australia’s top soul stylist KYLIE AULDIST impressed all and sundry with her October 2020 album ‘This Is What Happiness Looks Like’. Slickly produced, it was a sweet and nostalgic nod to the 80s – a decade that spawned the synth-led boogie soul style, but Ms A and her team gave it all a thoroughly contemporary spin. Many knowing soul commentators and taste makers hailed the LP as one of the soul albums of 2020.

Now, in the modern way, three of the album’s focus cuts have enjoyed the remix treatment. First up, the big and brash ‘Is It Fun’ has been re-tooled by UK soulful connoisseur, Richard Earnshaw. It was already  a dance floor shimmerer, but Mr E just ups the tempo a tad to create a smooth house groove without losing any of the soulfulness.

The second tune to win a makeover is ‘I Get It’. The new tweak comes via Warren “The Waz” Hunter – a top Aussie producer – who sticks closely to the sound of the 80s. The Waz also offers an instrumental mix of Ms A’s ‘Stay In Front’.

Counting all the instrumentals, there are 6 new mixes … all good to go via Traxsource promo and streaming sites from June 18th. Full release July 2nd, 2021, on Soul Bank Music.

Kylie says: “When I first heard what Richard had done with ‘Is It Fun’, I danced around my kitchen like a woman possessed – the bass on this remix is so fat, it made me go shopping for better speakers!! Thank you, Mr Earnshaw, this is delicious! “
