VINTAGE EXPLOSION are a Scottish band who grabbed plenty of attention last year when a video of them performing Sam Cooke’s ‘A Change is Gonna Come’ went viral on TikTok and Facebook. Since then, they have achieved two No.1 Live Albums on the iTunes Worldwide Blues Chart as well as reaching the top ten on the US Billboard Blues Charts. So, a no brainer, to get into the studio to cut a “proper” album and said LP, ‘Havin’ Such A Good Time’ has just been released.
The 10 tracker isn’t really a soul album as the band deliver sound that’s a mix of Western Swing, Jazz, Blues and rock ‘n’ roll… but there is a soulful feel to some of the tracks – notably ‘Lay In Your Arms’ while the current single, ‘Take My Troubles’ is currently No.1 on the I tunes blues chart and both show off the powerful voice of front man Willie Hitchell.
As their name suggests, Vintage Explosion make a music that looks back to a perceived golden age and amongst their heroes and influences are Sam Cooke, Fats Domino, Big Joe Turner and Louis Prima and if that’s your thing , you may want to investigate!
