We know that Christmas seems to come earlier every year – but at the start of August!!!
To get us in the festive mood, Stax Records and Craft Recordings have just announced the upcoming release of ‘Stax Christmas’, a new 12-track collection of Yuletide classics and originals from the label’s biggest names, including Isaac Hayes, Booker T. & the M.G.’s and the Staple Singers.
The release date is September 29th (a full three months before the big day!) and the album comes on vinyl, CD, and digitally including hi-res digital formats. The album will include a handful of rarities, including two previously unreleased recordings – they are a rendition of the mid-century yuletide staple ‘Blue Christmas’ by Carla Thomas and an alternate mix of Otis Redding’s version of ‘Merry Christmas Baby’.
