Over the past few years we’ve come to realize that we can totally depend on the TERRI GREEN PROJECT to deliver quality, contemporary soul and their latest release – a captivating ‘Turnt Up Tonight’ – simply underlines that. (By the way, that’s the way it’s spelt on the label)
As you probably know “the Project” is essentially sax man/keyboardist/producer/ writer and general all round good guy, Euro muso, TODDI REED (real name Torsten Abrolat) and Washington born soul diva TERRI GREEN. For their newie, though they’ve drafted in a second soul voice – Chicago singer/guitarist RANDY HALL. Randy last worked with Terri and Toddi on that wonderful 2020 cover of ‘What’s Going On’ and on the intro to this new ‘Turnt Up Tonight’, the pair agree that “they’ve waited too long” to collaborate again… and what a collaboration!
Their voices blend beautifully on a tune that harks back to those great Weekender anthems. Yep, it’s one those Friday night dance songs with which to celebrate the weekend, as they sing “It’s time to lift some glasses up and as Marvin says, ‘Let’s Get It On’”!
Yes, for sure we know there’s a lot of things going down right now – but this ‘Turnt Up Tonight’ might just take you away from the current tribulations if only for a while… and that’s no bad thing – “Celebrate the life… turnt up the night”! Out Monday 11th April.
