MY TRIPPIN’ MOJO are a German funk and soul combo who’ve just debuted with the long player ‘Edda’s Garden’. The ten tracker, released on the Resistant Mindz label, is a typically European take on the classic, old school funk sound. Throughout, you can tune in to plenty of wah wah guitar, throbbing bass lines, tight beats and punchy brass. Add to that the big strident vocals from Sabrina Bornman and you have a heady 21st century funk cocktail.
The tunes are all band originals and the majority are tough, up-tempo workouts. Two of those cuts … ‘Nice Girls With Cool Cars’ and ‘One For Sue’ – are instrumentals while those who dig heavy ballads should check out the bluesy, melancholy ‘My World’ or for something a little different the jazzier, lighter ‘Make ‘Em Pass’ – which is the album’s lead single.
