GOLD: THE MIXES….

At the start of October MF ROBOTS (the duo comprising of ex Brand New Heavy, Jan Kincaid and sometime Heavy/sometime solo performer/sometime top sessioneer, Dawn Joseph) flagged up their then soon to be released album with the single ‘Gold’.

Well, that album, ‘Break The Wall’, is with us now (see our archive for full review) and it’s a climbing the soul chart – and why not? It’s a varied and intriguing collection with the duo staying true to their ideal of making music that’s for real – not for robots!

To maintain momentum, the duo are gearing up to release two new mixes of the aforementioned ’Gold’ – one from Atjazz  the other courtesy of Beanz N Kornbread.

Atjazz (Martin Iveson) has long been a mainstay of the UK electronic, jazz and deep house scene and his ‘Soul Love’ mix of ‘Gold’ offers plenty of interest – bright and bold, dreamy and lush, it might remind soul veterans of bands like Rotary Connection.

Texas’ Beanz N Kornbread (Donald Johnson & Kenneth Roy) offers a ‘Nawfside’ mix – more lo-fi and subtle but warm and soulful too.

The release also includes instrumental versions of both mixes… all good to go from 12th November via bbe.
