Right at year end the ever-reliable and hard gigging NOEL McKOY has just released a brand new and rather tasty new single. The song is a McKoy original, ‘My Lady’s Gone’ – a rough and tough modern soul groove that ticks most boxes. But such is Mr Mc’s status is that he can call on some top mixers to add different shadings to his music… and there’s none “topper” than Cool Million’s Rob Hardt. Here Mr H gives the tune his usual, irresistible retro flavoured make over but keeps the Benson-esque scatting and the lovely, lovely keys break to create a mini masterpiece.

Noel, though, likes to cover all bases so he also offers a couple of house mixes – one from the Willesden Sound System, the other via Masters of the Universe. Both will find favour in their own arenas but the Rob Hardt tweak takes some beating. McKoy fans, of course, will know the song from our man’s ‘7’ EP.
