In keeping with our now regular mantra that soul music is universal and not just the preserve of the US, we need to bring to your attention the (maybe oddly named) Dutch band, TRISTAN. The line up is: Lead & Backing Vocals: Evelyn Kallansee Drums: Sebastiaan Cornelissen Bass; Frans Vollink Keys: Coen Molenaar Guitars: Thomas Bekhuis Percussion: Martin Gort and between them they cook up a quite beguiling soulful/jazzy sound.

Listen in and you’ll hear all kinds of flavours – a touch of Acid-Jazz, the feel of the Brand New Heavies, the groove of Incognito, the brash brass tones of Tower of Power and the slinky vocals of Lisa Stansfield or Swing Out Sister’s Corinne Drewery. Yep, it’s all in Tristan’s mix – but given a unique European feel because of circumstances.

The band are about to unleash their album – ‘Full Power’. And we’ll bring a full review very soon. In the meantime diligent internet searches will allow you to listen into and enjoy the lead single – the gentle, building ‘Moontune’. Feel good music at its best!
