Mark Knight’s Fool’s Paradise label is nothing if not prolific. Hardly a week goes by without another classy dance tune assailing our sensitivities and the label’s brand new offering sure does that. It’s a titanic pairing of UK house connoisseur, SOUL AVENGERZ (aka Paul Gardner) with US vocal legend, ADEVA, – and what they deliver is a potent remake of her 1989 House classic with Paul Simpson, ‘Musical Freedom’.
Adeva needs little or no introduction here, save to say that she has one of the most iconic soulful voices ever and has been there since the scene began. Paul Gardner, for his part, has been an integral part of the London house scene for a number of decades and he’s worked with and remixed some of the best names in the biz including Marshall Jefferson, Queen, Axwell, Inaya Day, Nightcrawlers, George Benson, Kaskade, Beyonce, Blondie, Alison Limerick, Shapeshifters and Joey Negro.
Now this dynamic duo offer a fresh perspective on ‘Musical Freedom’. Adeva has re-recorded all the vocals which she belts out as only she can! The music is contemporary with a little nod to dance music’s roots – uplifting piano, brass and strings and bumping beats – the works! One listen and you’ll feel like throwing your hands up in the air… honest!
