Despite her age (she’s in her late 70s) and with or without the E, JEAN CARNE is still going strong. A couple of years back she released an innovative jazz album with Adrian Younge and Ali Shaheed Muhammad of the Jazz Is Dead record label; then, working with Society Hill Records, she released a more accessible collection – ‘The Jazzy Soulful Sounds of Jean Carne & Friends’.
The album featured plenty of “name” guests – people like the “Legendary” Bluenotes and ex-Temptation, Glenn Leonard and top Philly sax man Don “Juan” Ward. The saxophonist guested on the jazzy ‘Give It Up’ on which Ms proved that she can still deliver in abundance.
If you missed it, the nice people at Society Hill have just released the track as a standalone single and it’s out now and included on this single release is a previously unreleased instrumental version as a bonus.
