GINO VANNELLI is a veteran Canadian singer/songwriter with a penchant for blue-eyed soul. He kicked off his career way back in 1973 with his album, ‘Crazy Life’ and maybe in the UK and Europe he’s best known for his for his 1974 tune ‘People Gotta Move’.
Since those heady days Mr V has never stopped making music. He has a plethora of albums to his name; he’s sold over 20 million records; he’s worked with Stevie Wonder; he’s performed for Pope John Paul II; and he’s muti Grammy-nominated.
Early next year, Gino will be releasing a new album ‘The Life I Got (To My Most Beloved’. Sadly the February released LP is dedicated to his late wife. The album was put together during a time of personal hardship for our man. His wife, Patricia, battled cancer and sadly passed earlier this year and, we’re told that the eleven tracks encompass the emotional turmoil of losing one’s soulmate and finding the will to move forward: “This collection of songs was written during my beloved wife’s illness,” Says Vannelli, “It’s an account of all the joys and suffering. She passed away when the record was completed. I remain in awe of Patricia’s courage. I miss her so. My love is eternal.”
You can catch the flavour of the album, via the just released single – ‘Keep On Walking’. Given the context, the message is a clear while the soundscape melds blue-eyed soul with smooth jazz. Out now!
