We were introduced to soul newcomer FRED KINGDOM just a couple of weeks back via a stunning debut single, ‘Medicine’. Praised by soul tastemakers everywhere, the melodic, easy roller was a lovely mix of influences – classic soul, neo soul, contemporary soul, all topped by a convincing, mature soul vocal.
Thus we were a little surprised to learn that Fred is just 19!. Hailing from London, he’s a graduate of the Royal Academy of Music where he studied Jazz Piano. We’re told that he works live with a five piece band and they’re making quite a name for themselves in and around the clubs of West London and on the evidence of ‘Medicine’ young Freddie will soon be striking out far and wide!
More evidence of his talent? Well Mr K’s delivering another single on August 2nd. It’s ‘Get Lost In Rhythm’ and it offers a different groove to ‘Medicine’. You can guess from the title that this new one is a dancer. A big production, it will get you moving for sure and the obvious reference point is prime time Michael Jackson – the tightest of beats, growling bass line, soaring harmonies, pace, passion and a wonderful vocal that slips from falsetto to gritty power within a couple of bars. It’s a good ‘un and little wonder that our Fred is already attracting the attention of the big boys – Sony and Warners!
‘Get Lost In Rhythm’ is released on August 2nd via AWAL/NUCO
