NICOLA TAYLOR is a new(ish) kid on the UK soul block. Hailing from Glasgow, she cites her music heroines as Mariah Carey, Jill Scott, Erykah Badu, Amy Winehouse & Joss Stone and you can hear their soulful influence on Ms. Taylor’s new single, an emotional, bluesy, soul meander ‘Get High’.
Nicola’s ‘Get High’ is a very contemporary affair but it’s roots are in classic, introspective soul, mining a similar vein as Mica Millar’s recent releases.
Prior to launching her solo career Nicola’s worked as a session singer and writer. She’s also worked as a wedding singer – a tough gig for sure, but a great grounding for a successful solo career.
