The (maybe) oddly named MAD YELLA is a UK music collective who’ve been around since 2018. The band met at university and came together via a shared influence and love of Jazz-Funk, Neo Soul and R&B. Over the last few years there have been some personnel changes but it seems that the Yella fellas are now an 8 piece who’ve earned their spurs working with people like Tony Momrelle and the Brand New Heavies.
Over the last year or so we’ve enjoyed the band’s singles ‘Being With You'(NO, not the Smokey song) and ‘Blue’ . That last one came out via Lee Murthwaite’s SO:UK label and that’s the imprint for their latest single -a lazy, rolling, soulful ‘With Your Love’. It’s a top quality slice of contemporary Brit soul with a jazzy undertow and sweet harmonics. Production’s down to Brighton’s Olly Howe of Howes 3 and in places it might remind you of Mama’s Gun.
‘With Your Love’ is good to go now and it’s also all systems go for Mad Yella – ‘With Your Love’ has been playlisted by the best soul stations and the band will be supporting Frankie Beverley’s Maze on their upcoming tour!
