GET THE MUSIC NOW….

Acid Jazz Records have just announced a licensing deal with 70s/80s African label Albarika. The label was based in Benin and had a huge influence throughout West Africa. Amongst their artists was Afro/funk band IPA BOOGIE – their 1978 album currently fetches upward of £1,000 – that’s if you can find one.

As a taster of the Albarika /IPA Boogie sound, Acid Jazz via Albarika will be releasing a double A-sided single on IPA Boogie on March 5th. The 7” pairs the very insistent ‘Get The Music Now’ with the equally tight Afro/funk beater, ‘Africa’. Hard to believe that both tunes are over 40 years old, they sound very contemporary; rough and organic; tough and rootsy; intriguing.

We’re told that the single is the launch pad for more Albarika releases via Acid Jazz.
