THE GETUP are a team of London-based funksters who’ve been making music since 2004 and on their journey they’ve won support from people like Snowboy and Craig Charles.
The band are Mark Ashfield (Hammond/Keys), Mark Claydon (drums/percussion), Ian Stevens (bass), Lee Blackmore (guitar), Stephen Wilcock (sax/flute), Tristan Gaudion (trumpet) and Sasha Patterson whose fiery vocals front the group’s latest single –a tough n’ funky, rough n’raucous ‘Take You Down’.
The tune’s out now on German indie label, “Our Label”, and it’s available only in the 7″ vinyl format – quite befitting the music in the grooves. It’s a limited edition pressing (just 350 copies) and to tempt investigation by serious funkateers the B-side is a wild car-chase instrumental called ‘The Cover Up’. It’s Hammond heavy with the funk augmented by guests Ben Greenslade-Stanton (trombonist with The Mighty Mocambos) and Mark Norton (sax player with The Fantastics).
