Latest release from BRIAN POWER’S Soulhouse label, sees the UK soulful house don deliver his spin on a proper classic – Brenda Russell’s ‘Get Here’ – probably best known in its Oleta Adams’ version.
For his take on the song, Brian has drafted in seasoned, soulful session singer LUCITA JULES. Ms Jules has worked with many big names and you might well remember her powerful input on Michael Gray’s cover of ‘Optimistic’.
For her reading of ‘Get Here’, the singer (rightly) reins in the power to deliver a sensitive, emotive version that retains the gentle feel of both the Brenda Russell and Oleta Adams version. However, this being a Brian Power project, you can bet that there’s a dance version too – and you’d be right.
The second available mix of ‘Get Here’ packs a whole lot more energy but still has a measure of restraint as befits the song’s sentiments. Both mixes are out now via Traxsource
