One of the biggest tunes of the last several months has been Pharell Williams’ hugely infectious ‘Happy’. Well, if you fancy hearing it given a new, maybe more soulful twist get internetting and dig out a fab instrumental tweak from SPEEDOMETER.
The UK band (like the whole universe) loved the tune as soon as they heard it and decided to record it just for fun. They uploaded it onto You Tube and it suddenly started to amass a multitude of viewings, so the band has “officially” released it – digitally. (Available on i-tunes and all the usual platforms).
Check it out and you’ll hear new, foot-tapping shadings as the boys pitch it somewhere between classic soul-jazz ( think prime time Grant Green with the atmosphere of “live” Ramsey Lewis) and good time Northern soul (maybe Al Kent?) … and if you still fancy the vocals then simply Google DJ Snatch who’s cleverly dropped Pharell’s vocal over the Speedos!
