A-P CONNECTION is a French soul and funk band founded in 2012. At the core are Antoine Perez and Pierre Bonnet (hence the name!) Their mutual passion is funk and disco music of the 70’s and 80’s and if that’s your passion too, you will probably want to investigate their latest album, ‘Sky Odyssey’.
Their team suggest that the 12 tracker “explores modern funk, with a relief of sophisticated sound” – maybe a posh way of saying it’s old school funk with a contemporary edge! To make their music, the duo have drafted in a team of top vocalists including Adam Chini, Gloria Tells, Heather Haywood (from the Cool Notes), Holland Greco, Howard Johnson and good old Omar.
Mr. Lye Fook adds his distinctive tones to ‘Get Down’ – the title suggests the soundscape; yep, tough and funky. Niteflyte’s Howard Johnson fronts ‘Smokin Train’. Elsewhere, the Nate Williams- vocalised ‘Life Changing Romance’ is a soulful groove while ‘Right Time’ (Heather Haywood at the mic) is the set’s big, down-time moment
