GAYE v SHEERAN … AGAIN!

alt

Our legal correspondent reports that everybody’s favourite droner ED SHEERAN is set to be sued by the estate of MARVIN GAYE. The amount being talked up by the legal eagles is $100m (£76.4m) and it concerns the allegation that little ‘ole Ed copied “the melody, rhythms, harmonies, drums, bass line, backing chorus, tempo, syncopation and looping” of Gaye’s 1973 classic ‘Let’s Get It On’.

You may remember that back in 2106 Sheeran was sued for the same thing by the estate of ‘Let’s Get It On’ co-writer, Ed Townsend. Sheeran is used to court cases by now – he’s faced similar charges with his songs ‘Photograph’ (for which he reached an out of court settlement with the claimants over the $20m (£13.8m) claim) and ‘The Rest Of Our Life’.
