FUN…FUN…FUN?

Lancashire born singer, pianist, composer/ songwriter/ arranger, PHILIPPA HEALEY is something of  a musical all-rounder. A graduate of Manchester’s acclaimed Chetham’s School Of Music, Philippa has a degree from Oxford, a Diploma with Distinction in Classical Singing from Leeds College of Music and she’s worked in the West End (‘Les Mis’ no less). Like we said, she’s a musical all-rounder  and has been featured on BBC Radio 2’s “Voice Of Musical Theatre”, as well as recording contemporary classical music for Hyperion Records and performing Vegas style cabaret on Cunard cruise ships!

Right now though she’s  forging forward as a purveyor of modern funk and jazz.  In May she released an interesting and funky single, ‘F.M.L.’. Packed with Brit-infused energy, you could hear that Ms H had been listening to plenty of dear Prince and Stevie,

Philippa now follows that one with a new single . ‘I Used To Be Fun’. Helping her to deliver are the same team that worked on ‘F.M. L.’ – Rob Harris (guitar) , Paul Turner (bass) and Derrick McKenzie (drums) …  all Jamiroquai alumni! The song’s all about a tired  out, pressured mum desperate for a night off and some grown up time and hopefully a little romance and again the main influence seems to be the little ‘ole Purple one with a generous  sprinkling of Herbie Hancock. Out now!
