ROW Z are a Liverpool based five piece with a feel for contemporary blues and soul. Their new EP, ‘Green Penny’, will be released on June 9th and it follows the success of their debut release the ska-flavoured ‘Stalemate’.
Row Z are led by Richard James Smith – a guitarist whose mentors include Mark Knopfler and he’s also worked with Joan Armatrading and Jose Feliciano. He has a degree in music and his papers were handed over by none other than Paul McCartney, the patron of the Liverpool Institute of Performing Arts.
Since graduating Richard has featured as a finalist in ‘Young Jazz Musician of the Year’ and ‘Acoustic Guitarist of the Year’, and featured on Oscar winner Jared Leto’s 30 Seconds To Mars track ‘Up in the Air’ (Remix).
Row Z have built a great live reputation in and around Merseyside and the Beatles’ first manager, Alan Williams, even booked them out for gigs.
The three tracks on the ‘Green Penny’ EP will be released on Ghostnote Records and they’ll be available via the usual download portals and you can learn more @ www.rowz.net
