After a three-year sabbatical, Jazz re:freshed is back. A vital and acclaimed platform for showcasing the UK”s jazz scene’s new talent, Jazz re:freshed – a non-profit organisation that launched in 2003 and introduced Nubya Garcia, Ezra Collective, and Moses Boyd to the world – is set to return in the autumn with a series of live gigs at 91 Living Room in London’s Brick Lane.
The keenly anticipated series of Jazz: refreshed events will begin in September and will run every Thursday night from 9 pm. The inaugural concert will feature the London pianist DoomCannon (aka Dominic Canning) on September 1st. Other shows scheduled for that month will feature rising stars in the shape of the Parisian bassist/singer Amy Gadiaga, the Hackney-born pianist Deschanel Gordon (a former BBC Young Jazz Musician of the Year winner), and the all-female group Colectiva, who marry African flavours with Latin grooves and jazz improv.
Says Adam Moses, Jazz re:freshed’s co-founder, event curator & label director: “The Jazz re:freshed team is excited to bring the weekly back into the real world and at a new East London home. We’re all about supporting the cultivation of young, female, and culturally diverse talent, giving artists the opportunity to play in front of an audience who is respectful and appreciative of the music. It’s just as important to us to ensure diversity of audiences as well as musicians and we have a commitment to continuing this work.”
