FELL THE BOUNCE …

Brixton’s Donald McClean, of course, works as DON E and he’s been around since the early 90s. He scored a hit in ’92 with ‘Love Makes The World Go Round’ and since then he’s been a regular visitor to the UK soul charts and his latest offering – a 6 track EP, ‘Summer Bounce’ offers a few cuts that could scale the same heights.

Most obvious contender is the lazy ballad, ‘One Time Is Not Enough’ which rides the cusp of soul and R&B. There’s a hint of Teddy’s ‘Love TKO’ in there too. ‘Be A Star’ is another sweetie while  the vocoded ‘Loving You’ kicks off the mini album with pace and intrigue. Elsewhere there’s a brave neo-soul cover of Bob Marley’s ‘Stir It Up’. A  duet with Hil St Soul, this one will grow on you – much more so than the throwaway ‘No Calyp Soul’ which sounds like the title suggests. That just leaves ‘Walking in The Sunshine’ – a lazy, summer vibe.

DON E: Summer Bounce EP out July 30th.
