Fancy a little chill out time and/or a little relaxation? OK… so, may we point you to a new EP from BOLD PARADE. Oddly, maybe, for a “chiller”, it’s called ‘Heat’! And Bold Parade? Well, they’re a music project fronted up by Belfast, multi-instrumentalist PAUL MCMAHON. (Anoraks might know that Paul also works as Crashdaddy and Bellcrash – both offering cool, jazzy, dance vibes).
Those cool, jazzy vibes were apparent on Bold Parade’s Spring EP, ‘Flowers in the Dirt’, which Paul and team now follow with a the aforementioned, four track mini album ‘Heat’.
The set’s title track is a gentle, little stunner – so, so sweet without being over sentimental. The lovely, lithe vocals are down to London’s Vanessa J who glides softly over the NuSoul groove. ‘Heat’ is also offered in a trickier mix – courtesy of up-and-coming Belfast talent, Brién. We prefer the original!
The set’s two other cuts are ‘Sacrament’ – a jazzy laid-back affair with vocals from London’s Rose White and a Latin flavoured ‘Mar De Afeto’ which delivers a sun-drenched percussive track and a sultry vocal from Brazil’s Bianca Amente.
