Despite the name. YORK is a German muso – saxophonist, flutist composer and producer to be precise. His CV includes working with people like Phil Collins, Randy Crawford and Quincy Jones and those who came across it ,were quite taken by his 2021 solo album debut, ‘The SoulJazz Experience Vol 1’.
We’re told that he’s working on a new album… ‘The Vintage Funk, Vol.1’ – we don’t know what happened to volume 2 of ‘The SoulJazz Experience’ though !
Whatever, Mr York has just released the first single from that new LP… a feisty and funky ‘Feel The Groove’ which reflects our man’s love of 60s and 70s funk. Vocals are down to Selena Evans and our man throws everything into the mix – DJ scratches, flowery flute, powerful horn stabs and his own bonkers sax solo!
