Future Noise Music is one of the UK’s newest reissue labels. It’s been in business for just under twelve months but in that time it’s built a solid catalogue across all kinds of genre boundaries. The label’s Fantastic Voyage imprint specialises in soul reissues and it currently offers some hugely collectable albums – chief amongst them being ‘Here I Am’ from MICKEY STEVENSON. STEVENSON, of course, is best known for his production work at Motown. In the early seventies, though, he recorded this – his own album – for the UK Ember label. Ember is also the source for the reissue of CAROL WOODS’ 1972 set, ‘Out Of The Woods’ and a brace of compilations… ‘Soul Breakout’ (a focus on soul pioneers like SAM COOKE and JERRY BUTLER) and ‘Good To The Last Drop’ (a sixties and seventies overview). Jazz collectors will also need to check out ‘The Flamingo Connection’ – a compilation of British jazz from the late fifties/early sixties and a 2 CD collection of BILLIE HOLIDAY’S live, radio, TV and film recordings.
