Philly’s KINDRED THE FAMILY SOUL are everybody’s fave soul collective. Essentially husband and wife Fatin Dantzler and Aja Graydon, the band has released five wonderful albums which meld old school sensitivities with contemporary neo-soul grooves.
We’re told that Kindred are currently putting the finishing touches to their latest album ‘Legacy’ which, in the modern way, is to be a self-funded affair. Indeed the duo have called their new new putative label ‘We’re Not A Label Records’!
First single from the album will be available from July and it’s an insistent head nodding foot tapper ‘All My People’. The vocal is shared by Fatin and Aja and, as ever, there’s a real soulful chemistry that clearly stems from their special relationship. Musically the cut has some of the feel of prime time Jill Scott – hardly surprising; she discovered ’em!
