Like most performers UK soul and jazz chanteuse, ROBIN McKELLE is trying hard to keep busy during the enforced lockdown. Disappointed, sure, that gigs and sessions have had to be cancelled, she’s keeping her hand in with some impromptu home recordings. We’ve already enjoyed her input on the Monte Carlo Orchestra/Marcus Miller version of ‘Someday We’ll All Be Free’ and she’s just made available a sweet and lovely acoustic version of one of her best known songs…. ‘Fairytale Ending’. The song was one of the highlights on Robin’s 2012 ‘Soul Flower’ album and when released on 7” vinyl by Expansion it became a modern soul favourite.
For this new “home-made” version, Robin is joined (remotely) by three of her old Flytones band and between them they capture all the song’s inherent beauty. You can catch it on Robin’s Facebook page or via YouTube.
