EARL YOUNG and DARRYL GRANT’S ‘(Don’t Underestimate) The Power Of Love ‘ has been a soul mainstay right through the summer. It’s a classic slab of old school soul crafted by two veterans – EARL YOUNG, the Trammps’ drummer and sometime Spectrum front man DARYL GRANT. On the tune their aim was to “meld the very best of classic Motown with the special sound of Philadelphia” and most admirers of the song would concur!
To give the tune longer legs for the autumn, two new mixes are now available…. one from Nigel Lowis (full of Philly flavour) and a “Connoisseurs’ Mix”. The latter clocks in at almost 8 minutes and is smooth, sophisticated and properly soulful.
